ABSTRACT

Through supervision, Martha was able to unblock her feelings and identify her fear and pain as it related to the ebb and flow of Cynthia's deterioration toward death. When Cynthia died, Martha attended the funeral, feeling out of place since the only professional connection to Cynthia's family had been their meetings at the hospital. Martha mourned and reviewed her work with Cynthia in supervision and support group. In both settings, Martha began to let go of Cynthia and to find a place for her feelings, with the realization that she had assisted Cynthia in making peace with parts of her life.
