ABSTRACT
On 26 April 1791, one week after the vote in Commons, Joseph Woods, James Phillips, George Harrison, Samuel Hoare and nine other men gathered for a London Abolition Committee meeting. The meeting was described by Clarkson as 'the most impressive I ever attended. The looks of all bespoke the feelings of their hearts.'
