ABSTRACT
THE COHERENCE OF THE QURʾAN An analysis, albeit not exhaustive, of the fundamental themes of the Qurʾan is indispensable. On the one hand it is important to describe the content of the text which, however immutable it might be in its written expression, can be the source of varying interpretations. On the other hand, it is important to restore the religious meaning of the Book while a few orientalists, like Michael Cook, pay little attention to its religious dimension.
