ABSTRACT

In a survey of several hundred members of leisure groups in the Oxford area members were asked to rate their mood at the end of a typical meeting. The results are shown in Figure 8.2. The greatest joy was reported for dancing, charity work, music, and church. The explanation is not hard to find. In each case they are very enjoyable activities, some include music, and in all cases interaction with friends. Each component alone would produce joy, and combinations of them magnify the effect.
