Diener and Oishi (in press) report correlations with income for 40 nations, and the average correlations are shown in Table 9.1.
These are modest correlations, which can also be expressed as a difference of 11% on the satisfaction scale between top and bottom income groups. Not surprisingly financial satisfaction has a closer connection with income than life satisfaction does.
