ABSTRACT

We have just seen that positive moods are produced by pleasant activities and events such as seeing friends, taking exercise, eating out and sexual activity. Some of these lead to a good mood for the rest of the day, sometimes to the next day (Stone and Neale, 1984). It follows that if you engage in such mood induction every day, or even twice a day, a good mood can be kept up all the time. Two easy ways of enhancing mood are exercise and music. Some individuals jog or swim every day, and many listen to music of their choice daily. A few take part in religious services twice a day.
