ABSTRACT
The phenomenon of bullying has not previously been treated as a major issue in Polish schools. It was only the rapid escalation of crime in general, and juvenile crime in particular, that has over the past few years drawn attention to bullying at school. The police and media report growing juvenile crime, increased cruelty and failure to identify motives that would be understandable to adults.
