ABSTRACT

The range of chapters showcased in this book reflects the breadth and depth of current thinking in the field. The chapters as a whole expose readers to a multitude of ideas emanating from diverse learning environments nationally and internationally, and urge readers to reflect on what it means to construct their own understanding of how the curriculum can be designed and shaped to support children’s learning and development. Through the discussions on the range of curricula and curriculum-related issues from the Early Years Foundation Stage to Reggio Emilia and the Kindergarten Framework in Singapore, the authors offer thought-provoking ideas related to why, how and in what context children’s learning and development can be supported and extended.
