ABSTRACT

Nepal has repeatedly and categorically stated in response to security concerns expressed by both Chinese and Indian leaders that it will not allow its territory to be used for hostile operations and subversive activities against its neighbours. China has successfully restructured its state-owned enterprises (SOEs), opened its market in line with its commitment to World Trade Organization (WTO) membership, and has expressed its readiness to cooperate with the countries of the region, especially its neighbours. This is a phenomenon which countries like Nepal and others in the region cannot afford to miss at any cost. The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Secretary General Long Yongtu is positive in asserting China's capacity for cooperation and contribution: As a rising economic power in Asia, China has a lot to offer. The BFA has been progressing steadily towards its mission: striving to promote the development goals of Asian countries through expanded regional cooperation, including greater regional and global integration and social responsibility.
