ABSTRACT
This afterword was written on the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook mass shooting. This horrific event focused national attention on two interrelated issues: school safety and mental health. It also served as the impetus for writing this book. Our purpose was to help educators prevent future tragedies as well as provide information to help schools become safer and more supportive.
