ABSTRACT

This chapter is intended for professionals working with children and young people and/or their families who require palliative care. The purpose of this chapter is to develop knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and young people who require palliative care and the evidence-based interventions and strategies that might be used to better enable the care of such individuals. Consideration will also be given to the needs of the child and young person’s family, carers and society and how these might be most effectively met. Finally, this chapter will identify good practices in how children’s needs require health, education and social services to work together.
