ABSTRACT

Ontological Revolution For many centuries before the 16th, the cosmos was a mysterious and wondrous place ruled by a grand hierarchy with a fearful and all-powerful God at its head. Supernatural beings surrounded us, and signs and symbols revealed the unseen spiritual realm to those who would see. Our worldview was a profoundly spiritual one in which the physical body and spiritual being were united. Western peoples

believe that their experiences in and perceptions of this world represent reality, so that if something is perceived to be present, such as a mirage in the desert, then it really is present. As the 16th century closes, important changes begin to occur in what is believed to be real.
