ABSTRACT
To have one’s work observed is to subject it to the variously passive or active scrutiny of one or more other workers. In many professions work takes place in the presence of colleagues as a natural consequence of sharing an office, operating theatre, building site, kitchen or other workplace. In mental health and social care settings such accidental scrutiny is less likely and special arrangements usually need to be made.
