ABSTRACT

The value of sharing conversations across working practices was demonstrated in the first Business Arts Forum. Everyone had gained insight in some way. We sensed that inviting younger participants into the Forum would bring new perspectives to all. Linking young people with people from other generations and unfamiliar worlds brings many questions. Examination of our own organizational ethos and structure was required if such conversations were to happen on a long-term basis. Furthermore, if this route was to be taken, more information about the internal workings of large organizations was needed and a greater sense as to why young participants and people in business might benefit from such links. Research in the UK and US gave direction. But, first of all, what was LIFT like behind the scenes? What organization was orchestrating these connections in wider society?
