ABSTRACT

Dr. Rotter was born in 1916. He received his Ph.D. degree in Psychology from Indiana University in 1941. Following that, he has been successively Psychologist at Norwich State Hospital, Personnel Consultant and Aviation Psychologist in the United States Army, and, at the present time, Professor of Psychology at The Ohio State University. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Minnesota. He was an Instructor in the 1950 Post-Doctoral Institute of the APA Division of Clinical and Abnormal Psychology and is Chairman of that committee. Most of his publications are concerned with the measurement of personality, projective tests, and personality theory. He is, at present, an Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Psychology Service Center Journal.

Mrs. Jessor was born in 1922. She received the M.A. degree in Psychology from Columbia University in 1946. She is a candidate for the Ph.D. degree in Psychology from Ohio State University in September, 1951. She is an Associate of the American Psychological Association. While at Ohio State University, she has worked as Clinical Psychologist for the Ohio State University Hospital, has been a U. S. Public Health scholar, and has interned at the Bureau of Juvenile Research. In addition, for the past two years, she has been an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Psychology and has taught practicum courses in projective techniques with Dr. Rotter. Her special interests are personality theory, projective techniques, and psychotherapy.
