ABSTRACT

This article discusses dynamics and interventions specific to group work with chemically dependent and personality disordered men in outpatient treatment. A model of group treatment is presented that combines interpersonal approaches with cognitive-behavioral strategies. The article highlights group issues of limit setting, interpersonal distortions, and aggression as well as the challenges and rewards of providing group services to this population.
