ABSTRACT

Four Boundary Commissions.— In this chapter I have dealt with the two Missions carried out by Sir Henry M cM ahon. The first was the Indo-Afghan frontier. In the second he was appointed to arbitrate between Persia and Afghanistan on the questions that had arisen owing to a change in the course o f the Helmatfd in the delta province of Seistan. I have also given a brief account o f the delimitation of the western frontier o f Afghanistan from a point near Bandan to the vicinity o f the Hashtadan Plain by General Fukhur-ud-Din, a Turkish officer, in 1935, an<^ > finally reference is made to the arbitral award on the Hashtadan Plain by MajorGeneral C. S. MacLean, in 1891.
