ABSTRACT

In any case: as in 1919 we climbed calmly and deliberately into the Social Democrat boat, so in the same way, we were able to enter the boat of the National Socialists in 1933 and try to lend a hand with the steering. Between 1919 and 1933 this proved quite satisfactory: the Social Democrats, since they were not able to govern without the Centre, were unable to do anything particularly antireligious or dubiously socialistic. Will it be possible to exercise a similarly sobering influence on the National Socialists now?
