ABSTRACT
Although static electricity was demonstrated in the times of the ancient Greeks, little progress was made until the eighteenth century when Benjamin Franklin (1706-90) demonstrated that electricity could travel between objects. He demonstrated that electricity acted like a fluid (current) travelling from what he called a positive object to a negative one.
