ABSTRACT
The childcare worker must become two tactically different workers – (1) with the children: conserving routines, developing systems and creating stability; and (2) with the organisation: introducing computers, accepting new forms of inspection, record keeping, training students, changing systems, changing their expenditure patterns and in, some cases, even changing their employers following take-overs.
