ABSTRACT

The term ‘libertarian’ needs some elucidation. The position which was occupied by classical English liberalism has had to be renamed; at least in the United States, as J. Schumpeter noted:

Hence as F. A. Hayek, the clearest and most important modern votary of classical English liberalism notes:

I agree and hence along with Hayek will continue to use the term liberal, in its original eighteenth-and nineteenth-century sense.
