ABSTRACT

Regulation B1 requires that the building be designed and constructed so that there are means of escape from the building in case of fire, to a place of safety outside the building, capable of being safely and effectively used at all material times; K1 states that stairs, ladders and ramps must offer safety to users moving between levels of the building; K2 is concerned that stairs, ramps, floors and balconies, and any roof to which people normally have access, be guarded with barriers where they are necessary to protect users from the risk of falling; and M2 requires that reasonable provision shall be made for disabled people to gain access to and use the building.
