Types of refuse
Domestic: includes ashes, food, paper, bottles, tins, rags and cardboard.
Commercial: includes some of the domestic rubbish, but it mostly consists of waste paper from office stationery, catering waste and cartons.
Industrial: includes various waste materials produced by industries, some of which may be toxic, offensive and dangerous. Some of the waste may be salvageable and valuable; for example, metal waste may be melted down and re-used.
