ABSTRACT
Attempts at the formation of stable central parties in Southern Europe are characterized by upheavals and changes in the political system. Such changes are based on the different relations which gradually form between the political society and the political system. The thesis presented here is that political society, meant as the sub-cultural orientations and ideals which grow from civil society itself, is more stable than the political party system which is subject to change and crises.
