ABSTRACT
In the chapter which follows this one we shall be reviewing some of the studies which have attempted to apply psycholinguistic modelling as a basis for devising programmes of direct intervention for aphasic patients. There are, however, some theoretical and methodological issues which arise in the practice of applying psycholinguistics in this field. The present chapter therefore considers these as a preliminary to our review of therapy studies.
