ABSTRACT

In the previous two chapters, you’ve been introduced to two very popular nursing models — Roper, Logan and Tierney’s Activities of Living Model and Orem’s Self-Care Model. The reason for introducing you to a third example of a nursing model — the Neuman Systems Model — is to give you a wider range of ideas about what nursing actually is and how you can approach care planning and delivery. It all goes back to the point made in Chapter 3: nursing models are tools that you can use, and the more tools you have to choose from, the more likely it is that you will find the best one for the job.
