ABSTRACT
The purpose of learning about ethics is so that you will be able to identify what is regarded
as right and wrong in clinical practice. Health care has seen many dreadful tragedies where
professionals unthinkingly provided care that they supposed was satisfactory, when in real-
ity it was not. This was caused because decisions were based on their own values and beliefs.
Take, for example, the Tuskagee experiment (which was mentioned in Chapter 1).
