ABSTRACT
This chapter defines and classifies types of roof structure and describes the construction of flat and pitched roofs in timber for domestic and small-scale buildings, together with the construction of dormer windows. The effect of wind on roofs and means of attaining adequate thermal insulation are also discussed. The concept of the rigid frame is introduced together with its construction in precast concrete.
