ABSTRACT
Epigram on the Voluntary Imprisonment of the Pope as proving his infallibility First publ. in New Poems (1914),p. 73, the only source for the text. The MS was found among B.’s papers after his death, and sold at auction in 1913; its current whereabouts are not known (Collections E089). It is, therefore, impossible to be certain that the title and subtitle of the poem are authorial, though it seems likely: cp. other short poems with humorously long titles, e.g. Very Original Poem (p. 287).
