ABSTRACT

It is difficult to date, or to contextualise, this fragment with any confidence. It is written in ink in Nbk 15 opposite lines on the facing page that, in part, loosely quote from Milton's Comus 630–5. Beneath is a pencilled prose jotting beginning The wisdom of one man. In the next nbk opening is ‘[Archeanassa, thou of Colophon]’ (no. 353), which may point towards a date of composition of September or October 1820.
