There is an MS at ABL; Collections (E246) states that it was sent to the editor, Marguerite Power, in a letter of 26 Feb. 1855, but this is open to considerable doubt; see below, and headnote to Ben Karshook (p. 659). Repr., with stanza numbers, DP (1864), 18652 (with no stanza numbers), 1868 (in the DP section of vol. vi), 1880, and 1888 (again in the DP section of vol. vii). The printer’s copy MS for DP is at Morgan. Our text is 1857; we record all variants from ABL MS.
