conditions, e.g. gastroenteritis • Uterine pain/tenderness • The woman is feeling unwell, over anxious

• Leucopenia <4 × 109 white blood cells is significant • Persistent bleeding and offensive lochia

N.B. Anti-pyrexial medication can mask a high temperature therefore doesn’t exclude sepsis.
