ABSTRACT

Homicide refers to the act of causing a person’s death. Whether or not the act of killing is considered criminal depends on the eye of the beholder, but powerful segments of society usually dominate the social construction of criminal killing. The most commonly thought-of type of homicide is murder, including serial and spree murder. Serial murder refers to the killing of two or more persons over time, while spree murder involves going on a rampage and killing multiple people at one time.
