ABSTRACT

Wind is the renewable resource with the largest installed capacity growth in the last 5 years, with U.S. wind power capacity increasing from 8.7 GW in 2005 to 60 GW in 2012 (Wiser & Bolinger, 2013). All of this development has occurred onshore, although nearly 1.3 GW of onshore wind turbines are operating within 10 miles of the south Texas coast (U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory, 2013; Wiser & Bolinger, 2013).
