ABSTRACT

The Grand Casablanca region is situated on the Atlantic coast. Covering 121,412ha (AUC, 2008)1, it is the smallest region in terms of area but the most populous and most economically dynamic region in Morocco. It is the premier location for industrial and commercial activity, as well as the country’s main financial hub and foremost centre of economic decision-making. Casablanca is a crossroads city for the land-based transport network and a convergence point for trade and the national and international flow of goods. As a result, it is the driving engine of the Moroccan economy and its power radiates across the entire country.
