ABSTRACT

Techniques from the Pantomime Exercise Sequence are used. All principles from the Pantomime Exercise Sequence are applied here as well: Mechanical approach: creating the first action; memorising the first action; mechanising the first action. Mono-pantomime is restricted to the expressive capacities of one human body positioned in space and time. If the mono-mime is the shortest distance between two points, then the group pantomime actor is a character in a category, a creature who is manifested individually just as much as it is generalised. Group pantomime expands the palette of the silent art by juxtaposing more than two bodies in several possible spatial and temporal segments. The art of the mono-mime is the quintessence of brevity and compactness of matter, space, and time. The theatre of group pantomime is closer to dramatic and dance arts by retaining conditionality while presenting the opportunity to recreate real events and characters.
