ABSTRACT

The audition is the most common gatekeeper for getting a job in theatre, film and television. Before you get a chance to do what you’ve trained for, you must be hired out of a pool of potential applicants. In other professions you fill out an application and go in for a job interview. You might have a second interview with someone else and take a job skills test before you are ultimately hired or not. The process for getting jobs in the theatre is the same, though the application and interview are slightly different. In almost every audition circumstance, you will face competition for the role you want. So, presenting yourself as the best-suited candidate for the role is essential.
