ABSTRACT
The People's Republic of China is the most populated country in the world, with roughly 1.3 billion inhabitants. It is the third largest country by land mass after Russia and Canada, and is divided into 22 provinces, four municipalities, five autonomous regions and two special administration regions (Hong Kong and Macau). Hong Kong is dealt with separately in Chapter 10 of this book.
