ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter, attention was paid to the fact that, over the years, scholars, practitioners and international organizations came to believe in a tight set of causal propositions. These are that oversight capacity causes oversight effectiveness and that oversight effectiveness improves the quality of democracy and curbs corruption and that, in doing so, it creates the conditions for self-sustaining economic growth and development.
