ABSTRACT

An example: Your team just won the championship. You saw it live, but you want to luxuriate in the afterglow of the win by reading, watching, looking, and conversing. So you visit your team's (or school's or newspaper's) website or mobile app to read the immediate game write-ups. Layered just under the game summary is a menu of video highlights. To the side are box scores or scoring summaries. In the "related content" section, there is a photo slide show of some of the game's more memorable images, links to the post-game press conferences, and, of course, ways to buy championship t-shirts and hats. Layered at the bottom are what fans (and foes) are saying about the big game, comment that includes channels for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other sodal media platforms. An hour has just whizzed by, but it doesn't matter. The experience is what you were after, and the expert layering and combinations of media are what enabled that experience.
