ABSTRACT
It has been proposed that it is time to commence a completely new phase in international environmental protection. In 1999, I was fortunate enough to have had the interesting experience of hearing the ideas of former Vice President of the International Court of Justice, Christopher Weeramantry, when he visited the University of Lapland’s Faculty of Law. He had also taken the opportunity to express his ideas in his dissenting opinions during his tenure at the Court.
