ABSTRACT

This chapterexamines the ways in which people in cities are feeding themselves through these global struggles. It will investigate the changing way people have fed themselves through the development of cities and explore the various ways in which people access food in urban areas and how this affects their health. Part funded by the United Nations and the USA and European aid agencies, the campaign is expected to boost the number of organized street food vendors in the city. By bypassing the modern sophisticated food chain, the urban consumers are directly engaging in farm work themselves or commissioning other farmers to do it for them.
