ABSTRACT

In order to use a performance task to evaluate student learning, a guide for evaluating student work, such as a rubric, is needed. The development of the task and the application of the rubric should be considered an iterative process (as each is developed and used, it suggests changes in the other) with the final combination of task and rubric evolving over time. This section includes guidance for the design of a rubric for a task.
