ABSTRACT

A student's performance on a multiple-choice or shortanswer test may be described in terms of percentages. One student might score 87%, another 94%, still another 68%. But when teachers use other assessment methodologies, the con cept of "percent correct" loses much of its meaning. What is 87% of an essay? How good (and in what way) should a skit be to receive a score of 94%?
