ABSTRACT

“Whatever will we do for 90 minutes?” was the first thought that raced through our minds when our principal gave us the opportunity to change our daily schedule from short 55-minute periods to the 90-minute periods found in most block schedules. We exploded in curiosity and conversation over the ensuing weeks and had many questions. Our search for information uncovered the fact that we were not the newest kids on the block and that other schools were attempting this new schedule. After a year of visits and investigation, the faculty decided to change the daily single-period schedule to the 4/4 semester block schedule.
