Delegating strategically involves sharing both authority and responsibility with someone else. When you only share the responsibility but do not allow another person to have the authority to implement ideas, the outcomes will likely be less than what was expected. Assigning responsibility to others without also empowering them (i.e., giving

assignment, trust is strengthened. Over time, you develop a working relationship based on having the assurance that tasks will be completed and completed well. e following are three key ideas for delegating strategically:

1. CONSIDER FIT. An important part of delegating strategically involves considering the t-matching the right tasks with the right people at the right time. Eective delegation does not mean you assign tasks to people arbitrarily. Eective or strategic delegation involves reective thinking and planning. Does this person have the time to get the job done? Perhaps even more importantly, does this individual have the necessary skills? If she does not have the skills for a particular task, then the result will not be favorable. at is why it is critical that you think about what you are delegating and to whom. Considering t is a key part of strategic delegation, and determining t requires purposeful planning.
