ABSTRACT

Leaders who convey the attitude of “get over it” can harm trust. When the leader tells teachers, parents, and students to just get over something, he is sending a message that he is not tuned in to others’ needs, not sensitive to the larger issues, unwilling to listen, and not empathetic. is attitude shows that the leader does not care how others are feeling. Oen, such leaders cannot understand how others are feeling about an experience or event when they insist that individuals need to move past whatever the issue is and just get over it.
