ABSTRACT

Achieving advanced stage, level 5, proficiency is the ultimate goal of the English language learner. Although a single teacher may want to take credit for having successfully worked with an ELL who attains advanced stage proficiency, the achievement is due in large part to the support of a network of dedicated individuals, including parents and family members, previous teachers, administrators, librarians, and mentors in the community. Ultimately, however, the student deserves credit for such an accomplishment.
