ABSTRACT

In the preceding chapters, we have discussed a wide range of strategies you can incorporate into your lessons to increase rigor. Many of those learning activities result in a product that can be used to assess learning. Now, we’ll shift our attention to the critical aspects of evaluation and assessment. I’ve found that nothing derails attempts at rigor as quickly as problems with grading. Yet, before we talk about grades, we should discuss the aspect of assessment that can have a gr eater impact on student learning, formative assessment.
