ABSTRACT
Several years ago Dick attended a meeting of the regional coordinating committee for a neighboring state’s “Student Retention Initiative.” Arriving a little late, he discretely took a seat in the back of the room and listened carefully so he could become attuned to the context of the deliberations. Soon he realized that what was being shared were status reports on recent activities under the umbrella of this comprehensive effort for increasing the state’s graduation rate.
